Indwe Park - An oasis in Braamfontein

The Liberty Indwe Sculpture Park is a multi-layered space, inviting visitors to explore and engage with elements of the area’s history, flora and geology. Designed by artist James Delaney, the driving force behind The Wilds transformation, it features public art pieces, water features, winding pathways, views of the city’s modernist architecture and more.

This 4-hectare garden park is located on the Witwatersrand ridge not far from where the gold-bearing reef that drew people to the city was first discovered. It encompasses the Liberty Group headquarters and the old South African Breweries building.

Step into the fresh air, recharge, and take in the striking view past the iconic Eland statue to the Nelson Mandela Bridge and the city beyond.

On the tour you will experience the art works that reflect the significance of park’s location, and indigenous plants with healing and/or nutritional properties that evoke the veld which existed on these ridges before the city was built.

Bring along a picnic to enjoy in the gardens afterwards. All attendees will receive a pass to Indwe to come back and enjoy the space whenever you can.

The meeting point is outside the Liberty Life Centre. Parking is available on the premises.
