Fitness and Coaching Open Day

ABOUT

Two very different careers in sport, explained in 45 minutes.

If you're finishing matric this year and sport is the thing you actually care about, this session is for you. And for your parents, who will have questions of their own.

We'll walk through the two qualifications we run in the Western Cape and, more usefully, what the working life behind each one actually looks like.

National Certificate in Coaching Science — coaching teams and athletes. You specialise in a sport of your choice, and your elective can count towards a national federation coaching accreditation. Leads to school coaching, club and academy work, private coaching, team management.

National Certificate in Fitness — personal training. Screening, assessment, programme design, nutrition principles, and the business side that most trainers are never taught. Leads to personal training, group exercise instruction, gym and facility management.

Both are NQF Level 5, one year, CATHSSETA accredited and REPSSA recognised. Both start February 2027.

What we'll cover

  • What each qualification is, and what it lets you do
  • What the work actually looks like day to day
  • Entry requirements — you need a matric, you don't need experience
  • What it costs and how payment works
  • Where our graduates have ended up
  • Open questions, for as long as you have them

Who should come

Grade 12s deciding what to study next year, Grade 11s starting to think about it, and parents. Bring the hard questions — we'd rather answer them now than have you piece it together later.
