Public holidays are for Homies & Girlies!

Our public holiday rides are when Banditz Bicycle Club and Girls On Bikes come together for a mixed social ride around Joburg.

Yes, we’re celebrating the public holiday the best way we know how: outside and on bicycles, but these rides are also about bringing our two communities together. Think of it as a proper brothers-and-sisters link-up: riding, chatting, meeting new people and enjoying the city together.

The ride is open to everyone, and all our usual ride rules apply.

Meet up at 44 Stanley at 09:00 for a sharp 09:30 departure

If you have your own bike, dust it off and bring it along! If not, you’re welcome to hire a bike and helmet from us. Bike hires are limited, so be sure to secure yours early.

We’ll be exploring some of Joburg’s familiar roads and neighbourhoods, making our way towards Sandton City and back. Don’t get too caught up in the distance; when you’re having a good time, the kilometres have a funny way of disappearing ??

The pace is social and relaxed, with everyone welcome, regardless of your riding pace. Just keep in mind that these rides can take a little longer because we’re here to ride and socialise.

So bring your bike, bring your people, and meet the other side of the cycling family.

Before you saddle up, a few ride essentials:

• Eat something light; cycling is movement, and movement burns energy
• Bring water + a sweet snack to keep your sugar levels steady
• Let us know about any medical conditions ahead of time
• The winter sun’s a poser; still wear sunscreen, sunnies, or a hat
• We roll out around 9:15 AM, so please be on time
• To be comfortable on your assigned bike. Know your height; our bikes are mostly medium. If you think you'll need a smaller one, pop by Cycle Boutique beforehand to check the fit
• Bring a seat cover if you want some extra comfort; bike seats can be a bit harsh
• And just a heads up: rides are non-refundable unless weather cancels us out. Our bikes are limited, and every spot counts
