Suits & Sneakers presents J'Something and Siv Ngesi in Cape Town!

Suits & Sneakers hosts several events each month in Cape Town, each featuring a different guest and theme. The idea is to create a space for ongoing learning that helps you broaden your thinking in a fast-changing world. This event will be hosted on the evening of Wednesday, 26 August at The Tryst in Woodstock

WHAT IS THIS EVENT ALL ABOUT?

For the opening evening of the Suits & Sneakers Main Event in Cape Town, we wanted to kick off our annual extravaganza with two incredible South Africans that are both doing some amazing things in this country. Both Siv and J'Something have achieved massive success through deliberate hard work, a focus on skill-building and a clear mindset. They both bring a unique angle to the Suits & Sneakers mentality and serve as practical examples of what it looks like to put in the work and stay the course in South Africa

SIV NGESI: A COUNTRY BUILT BY ACTIVE CITIZENS

To start the evening, Mark Sham will be joined on stage for an interview with Siv Ngesi focused on why active citizenship matters in South Africa. Siv has chosen to use his voice and influence to speak out against gender based violence and take practical action against period poverty. We will explore what drives him to step beyond his work as an actor and comedian, and why he refuses to wait for someone else to solve the problems he cares about. This session is about how conviction becomes action, how action becomes contagious, and why South Africa needs more helpers, builders and active citizens.

J'SOMETHING: ONE DAY AT A TIME

Following the interview, J'Something will deliver his keynote. In his latest talk "One Day at a Time," J'Something tells the story of how a life-altering moment of crisis led him to a profound realization about the here and now. He explores the concept of "Divine Discontent," the uncomfortable gap between where you are and where you wish to be. As you delve into his journey from Portugal to the top of the music charts, you will discover how to navigate this gap by focusing on the only real thing we have: today.

WHO IS SIV NGESI?

Siv Ngesi is a multi-award-winning South African actor, comedian, television presenter and producer whose career spans stage, film and television. Alongside his work as an entertainer, Siv is an outspoken advocate against gender based violence and a committed ally to women and the LGBTQI+ community. He is also the co-founder of the MENstruation Foundation, an organisation working to end period poverty by providing free and dignified access to sanitary products. Through his voice and actions, Siv demonstrates what active citizenship looks like in practice.

J'Something is a multifaceted creative force, renowned as the lead singer of the award-winning band Mi Casa and a celebrated culinary entrepreneur.
