Stories That Made Us
An Author Talk & Interactive Evening with Zandile Mnisi LaMvuleni
Thursday, 10 September 2026 | 18:00–20:00
Munro Viewpoint Gallery, Houghton
R250 per person | Limited to 10 guests
For Heritage Month, Masa’s Corner invites you to an intimate and interactive evening with writer, journalist, poet and literacy advocate Zandile Mnisi LaMvuleni, as we explore The Stories That Shaped Us. Rather than a traditional author talk, this will be a small, conversational evening centred on storytelling, reflection and meaningful participation. Expect thoughtful conversation, questions, shared experiences and an opportunity to engage directly with Zandile and fellow guests.
About Zandile Mnisi LaMvuleni
Born and raised in Soshanguve and now based in Makhanda, Eastern Cape, Zandile is an intersectional feminist, writer, journalist and poet whose work explores themes of gender-based violence, grief, community memory, systemic injustice and lived township experiences. She is the author of the children's book Khaya Wants to Row, published by Book Dash, and has written for publications including LitNet, The Daily Dispatch, True Love Magazine, Your Pregnancy Magazine and Daily Sun.
Zandile began writing at fourteen and has remained committed to creating stories in which African and township children can see themselves reflected. Her work as a literacy advocate has also earned recognition for her contribution to advancing education among marginalised communities.
She has further developed her craft through a writing masterclass under the guidance of acclaimed author Prof. Zakes Mda at the John Kani Performing Arts Academy.
