Pringle Proms
ABOUT
As one of the first adherents to the low-carb Banting diet as popularised by Prof Tim Noakes, Pringle Proms founder, Brian Berkman, shed a third of his weight. For his next Pringle Proms event, scheduled for Saturday, September 5 between 9.30 and 2.30pm, Berkman will demonstrate Keto and Banting diet dishes. The cost of the workshop and lunch is R550 per person.
Rather than promoting a particular diet, the workshop explores flavourful, satisfying cooking that naturally reduces carbohydrates while celebrating fresh ingredients, generous hospitality and enjoyable eating.
Brian will demonstrate and participants will prepare a full menu: Stuffed Peppers with Savoury Mince, Salmon and Fennel Frittata, Creamy Chicken and Mushroom Casserole, Cabbage Three Ways, alongside Creamy Cauliflower Mash. Nibbles include Baba Ghanoush and Muhammara. Dessert is a Chocolate Avocado Mousse.
Everyone will enjoy a relaxed communal lunch featuring the dishes that have been prepared. Guests are welcome to bring their own wine or other preferred beverages to accompany the meal.
Whether participants are already following a low-carbohydrate lifestyle, managing blood sugar, or simply looking for fresh culinary inspiration, the emphasis is firmly on delicious food that family and friends will enjoy, regardless of how they choose to eat.
Brian Berkman is a travel journalist, former Cape Times restaurant critic, passionate home cook and the founder of Pringle Proms.
