YOU WILL LEARN
• what editors and writers look for in a story
• how to structure and write a good story
• what is a story hook?
• the basics of journalism
• how to write for specific audience
• writing headlines that sell or create clicks
• how to write travel writing, op-eds, blogs how-to stories, features and compiled stories
• how to pitch to an editor
• what you will get paid
Like all our courses we are not just going to teach how to do it, we are going to show you how to do it yourself. During the morning you will be writing, coming up with ideas and improving your basic journalism skills. You can also use these techniques to promote yourself and/or your company.
YOU WILL LEAVE WITH
• A list of 10 stories ideas to write and pitch
• An understanding of what makes a good story
• Experience in writing a number of articles in various formats.
WHO SHOULD COME ON THIS WORKSHOP?
This course is suitable for writers with no experience in journalism.
Content writers
Junior reporters or working journalists.
We also run the course in-house at magazines if there are 4 or more delegates.
