The Nur Experience invites you to our inaugural event.

Join us for an immersive heritage experience exploring the 400-year-old tradition of rampies-sny in Cape Town. Passed down from the earliest Muslims at the Cape to the present day, this cherished practice carries a rich legacy of faith, community, and celebration.

Our event draws inspiration from the different ways in which rampies are prepared in celebration of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.

We offer knowledge sharing on the lemon (citrus x limon eureka) - a tree not indigenous to the Cape, but now used across cultural practices. From food, to healing, to rampies-sny, the humble lemon is always a feature.

We then consider the significance of Mawlid and share from the most esteemed scholars who have written on this topic including:

• Imam Suyuti
• Qadi Iyad
• Imam al Jazuli
• Imam al Busayri

Finally, we will pause for both personal and shared reflections encouraging meaningful connections with other like-minded women.

You will discover the rich social, cultural, and historical tapestry of this treasured tradition, including the joy and beauty of Mawlid, the celebration of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.

You will then be guided through the preparation of your own rampies.

The experience will begin with a celebratory signature welcome drink, offering you the opportunity to mingle with fellow participants and settle into our beautiful space.

• Signature refreshments, lovingly prepared and created especially for this occasion.
• All materials needed for the experience.
• Your own handcrafted rampies keepsake to take home.

We invite you to share your own experiences of rampies and reflect on the beauty of this tradition in the heart of the city, where it all began.
