A new comedy night has arrived in Cape Town.
Are You Close? Comedy is a brand-new showcase bringing together some of the city's best comedians alongside exciting new voices, all in one of the city's most unique venues.
Our home is West Coast Diner, a retro American-style diner where great food, drinks, and live comedy make for the perfect night out. Whether you're coming for burgers, beers, or belly laughs, we've got you covered.
For our launch show, we're bringing together a lineup with a wide range of comedic styles—from razor-sharp observations and storytelling to absurdity, crowd work, and everything in between. No two acts are the same, which means there's something for every comedy fan.
Hosting the evening is Chuma Bentele, winner of the Jive Funny Championship 2026 and a performer who has appeared on Comedy Central. Guiding the night from start to finish, Chuma's infectious energy and quick wit make him one of the country's most exciting hosts.
Headlining the show is Wesley Paulse, a Jive Funny Championship finalist, Comedy Central performer, and creator of a string of acclaimed one-man shows that have earned him audiences across South Africa. Wesley's thoughtful, high-energy style makes him the perfect comic to close out our first night.
