Womensday WINE WALK from Dirtopia Trail Centre @MURATIE

This is a social hike starting at Dirtopia Trail Centre at Muratie Wine Estate, where you’ll be treated to a mimosa on arrival.

Hikers follow the signage that leads to the look-out point, approximately 2km uphill from the trailhead, where there are views of Simonsberg and Table Mountain in the distance. You can taste Muratie’s Rose, Laurens Campher Chenin Blanc, Blended Red and Merlot.

Bring good (closed) walking shoes, backpack with water bottle, hat, snacks (if you like) and a jacket. A blanket to sit on if you like. This is a relaxed event with lots of socializing and so that you can enjoy the wineland views and the Stellenbosch outdoors!

Ensure you book by the Friday before event by 15h00. Limited tickets and all must be done online.

The Trail Centre will be open early for snacks and cold drink sales. Please note that any drinks before, during or after the walk is for your own account.

VENUE: Start and finish at Dirtopia Trail Centre, Muratie Wine Estate, Stellenbosch

TIME: For registration from 09h00, so that we can start the walk by 9.30am and will be back by 11h15/30

DISTANCE: Approximately 3.5km

COST: R245 Kids U18 R100 (a juice for the U/18’s)

INCLUDES: Day permit for marked route and wine tasting on top of the mountain.

Wear good walking/hiking shoes – you are climbing a mountain with over 200 wooden steps & various terrain. Bring a jacket, carry your own water and perhaps some snacks to enjoy on the mountain.

SCHEDULE:

09h00 – 09h25: Registration. You will receive an armband that will give you access to the route and wine tastings.

09h30: Start the walk at leisurely pace.

A short briefing will take place before you follow the marked route.

10/10h15am: Arrival at Tasting of 4 Muratie wines. Kids will receive juice.

11h00: start walking back – approximately 1.5km down on the hiking trails

11h30/12h00: Arrival back at Dirtopia Trail Centre.
