LIVE PERCUSSIVE PERFORMANCE AT ARTVARK GALLERY
Inge Norum is an award-winning Norwegian photographer and percussionist whose musical journey spans jazz, theatre, opera, world music and contemporary performance. One of the most memorable moments of his musical life was the rare privilege of performing with the celebrated Pakistani singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
His debut solo exhibition THE FOUR KINGS opens at Artvark Gallery on the 2nd September as part of the Cape Town Photography Festival 2026.
Over the course of a year, Norum returned nearly a hundred times to Kongeeika - a monumental, four-trunk oak tree estimated to be around 600 years old - in Maridalen, Norway.
He will lead a WALKABOUT on Sunday, the 6th September, at 6 pm, followed by a live music performance.
Inge is also a world-renowned djembe player and will be performing a ONCE -OFF gig with guest musicians, including the legendary
Dizu Plaatjies, Jamie Jupiter, Carsten Rasch, Derek Craig, and Manan.
Dizu Plaatjies was the founder of Amapondo. He received funding from Scandinavia to tour internationally. It is interesting that now playing with a Norwegian musician, bringing the story full circle.
