A kissa is more than a listening bar. It's a place of escape for some, healing for others—a space where music is experienced with intention rather than as background noise.

We Love Kissa invites like-minded individuals to gather around rare sounds, extraordinary records, and a world-class sound system in a room filled with people who are just as locked into the music as you are. It's an evening dedicated to listening, discovering, and connecting through sound.

Cape Town has long been a city of tastemakers and cultural pioneers, yet spaces dedicated purely to the art of listening remain rare. Inspired by Japan's enduring ongaku kissa culture, this gathering celebrates a tradition that has become de rigueur around the world: intimate listening spaces devoted to deep musical appreciation and the outer fringes of experimentation. The atmosphere, the sound, and the sense of community create something that simply cannot be replicated.

At its heart, We Love Kissa is about community rather than commerce. We invite fellow music lovers, collectors, selectors, and curious listeners to join us as we cultivate a space where music takes centre stage.

To help sustain this initiative, we encourage a R50 community donation, which can be made via the Quicket link. As this is an intimate listening experience, attendance is limited to just 20 guests, so we encourage you to reserve your place early.

This gathering is also a little more special, as Bishop is celebrating another trip around the sun. In the spirit of sharing good music and good company, we'd love for you to join us for a slice of birthday cake as we celebrate together.
