ABOUT THE COMPOSER
Ernst was born into a family full of love and affection, bound together by a strong mutual bond they shared in Christ and in music. As a musical group, the family sang in churches.
He began classical piano lessons at the age of eight, and for the next few years found himself on a collision course with his sport. We are very glad that the finer arts won through in the end.
Ernst went on to found at least three mixed choirs, one of which lasted for twenty years. He sang as tenor soloist in the Durban Men's Choir for thirteen years, and during the 1970s toured with them through most of the countries of Europe. Over the same period he also sang with the Oriana Choir.
In 2023 he formed a house concert group, performing in people's homes. The houses soon became too small — and so here we are today, in a church full of people.
Going back a little further, 2008 was the year he discovered a passion greater than golf: he became a violinmaker. Three of his handcrafted violins are playing in orchestras as we speak.
A true believer, Ernst pays homage to God for his talents. His motto is simple: "Give it back to the Giver."
He salutes every musician and singer taking part in these concerts, and we look forward to an evening full of love and good music.
