ABOUT
Belonging at Work
Building Inclusive Networks for the Future of Work
What does it truly mean to belong at work?
As students and young professionals prepare to enter increasingly diverse workplaces, technical skills alone are no longer enough. The ability to build authentic relationships, navigate different perspectives, foster inclusive teams, and create spaces where everyone feels valued has become essential to both individual and organisational success.
Belonging at Work is an interactive dialogue hosted by the Stellenbosch Women Alumnae Network (SWAN) in partnership with the Women and Queer Empowerment Student Society. Bringing together students, alumni, employers, and industry leaders, the event creates a space for honest conversations about inclusion, allyship, identity, and professional growth in today's evolving workplace.
Through a series of facilitated discussions and networking opportunities, participants will explore how inclusive workplaces are built, the barriers that continue to exist for women and LGBTQIA+ professionals, and the practical actions individuals, leaders, and organisations can take to foster cultures of respect, psychological safety, and belonging.
Whether you are preparing to enter the workforce, leading a team, or looking to build a stronger professional network, this event offers an opportunity to learn from lived experiences, exchange perspectives, and connect with a community committed to shaping workplaces where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
