Playhouse 5 - The Old Mushroom Farm
ABOUT
Slide guitar, harmonica, African blues guitar stylings and soul vocals all feature in the fresh sound of Robin Auld. Familiar to South Africans from his all-time classic hits All of Woman, Baby you been good, Perfect Day and many others, Robin Auld's music has evolved from the poprock sound of his early hits into a contemporary mix of roots and blues.
His latest album. “The Everlovin’ wind” has had a great reception, with singles “Underground” and “Country Mile” hitting No 4 and No 1 on the Mix Fm SA top forty.
Based in Cape Town, he has performed and recorded in New York, London, Glasgow and Nashville, performing at festivals such as Cambridge Folk Festival, Tartan Hearts, Gold Coast Ocean Fest, and Womad.
He will be joined by his old friend and musical partner Anton Cawthorn-Blazeby on violin. An iconic figure of the KZN music scene, Ant first came to prominence with Landscape Prayers and has played every single Splashy Fen since its inception. They have been playing together for many years since an impromptu jam at Grahamstown Festival, and Anton brings an improvisational AfroCeltic energy to the songs.
A sparky mix of SA styles guaranteed to uplift and enthuse!
