KELEBOGILE MOTSUMI LIVE

A vocalist, indigenous African instrumentalist and composer, Kelebogile’s artistry is an exploration of contemporary jazz and African folk music. She incorporates traditional Xhosa instruments such as umrhubhe creating a bridge to South African jazz.

She is currently based in the United States pursuing a Master of Music with a concentration in Jazz Studies as a vocalist at Howard University in Washington D.C. Kelebogile has immersed herself in communities where cultures within the African diaspora are practiced. This has broadened her sense and appreciation for African music.

Weaving her experiences through compositions, Kelebogile aims to create as an ode to the African child, recalling memory, identity, and cultural continuity.
