Melkbosstrand High School Choir Festival: Harmony Beyond Words

This year, our festival theme is "Harmony Beyond Words," deeply inspired by the mesmerising and transcendent sounds of Adiemus by Karl Jenkins. Come and celebrate the incredible power of music to unite communities, uplift spirits, and showcase the phenomenal choral talent of our region.

Featured Showcase Event

Blouberg Ridge Primary will be performing an original composition, which is a unique collaboration between the school's music department and a South African duo ( ABFAB ) and a recording company based in Holland. A dedicated group of learners led by a passionate team of music educators, who will be joining forces for a spectacular featured performance. Together, they will present the world premiere of an original composition written specifically in the spirit of collaboration. This exciting debut promises to be one of the absolute highlights of the night!

Helen Sauerman is a passionate vocal coach & music educator at M&M Music & Performing Arts College who is skilled in the art of vocal arranging, a cappella & choral singing. She directs the M&M A cappella Society whilst teaching vocals, piano, theory & other music subjects at M&M. Helen’s ear & creativity with vocal harmony has led her to arrange for various scholastic & collegiate level groups, as well as solo artists. Some of her latest work in vocal coaching & arranging can be seen with up-and-coming local artists such as Mage Troskie (‘Vir Nou Net Mage’) & Liam Burger of Faker Streets. One of Helen’s latest milestones was to be able to travel to Los Angeles, California in July 2022 in order to learn from some of the industry’s top a cappella directors, arrangers & educators at ‘A cappella Academy’ (including former Pentatonix member Avi Kaplan, renouned arrangers Rob Dietz & Ben Bram and more).

Note for Patrons: The school cafeteria will be open before the concert and during the interval, offering a variety of refreshments and light meals for purchase.
