ABOUT
A zine workshop as an exploration of Mosa Anita Kaiser’s solo exhibition, Residues of Proximity: One body, many parts. Curated by Melusi Masike as part of the Bag Factory’s Young/Unframed Programme 2026
Through threading, cutting, removing, and shaping, this zine-making workshop offers a creative response to Residues of Proximity: One Body, Many Parts. Inspired by the exhibition's exploration of memory, embodiment, fragmentation, and repair, participants will engage in a process of assembling and reassembling personal and collective narratives. Participants will generate texts through intuitive writing exercises that prioritise association, interruption, annotation, and chance over linear narrative.
Using these written fragments as raw material, participants will experiment with worldbuilding—constructing speculative landscapes, characters, histories, and systems from the residues of language and experience. The workshop will culminate in the creation of individual or collaborative zines that bring these emergent worlds into visual and textual form.
No previous writing or art-making experience is required. Participants are encouraged to arrive with curiosity, a willingness to experiment, and an openness to where language might lead.
