ABOUT

Join us for the "Henry Ate Anniversary Tour" as part of our Summer Outdoor Concert Season!

The soundtrack to a generation returns as Henry Ate hits the road this October and November.

Three decades after Slap in the Face captured the hearts of South African music lovers and became the soundtrack to a generation of students, road trips and late-night singalongs, Henry Ate announces their nationwide tour to celebrate the album that started it all.

The beloved duo of Karma Swanepoel and Julian Sun will embark on the 30 Years of Slap in the Face tour across South Africa this October and November, revisiting the songs that defined an era while sharing the stories behind one of the country's most cherished indie rock albums.

Please choose between:

  • Premium seated table tickets are closer to the stage and enjoy the full café Roux food & beverage menu.
  • Grass tickets further back are offered in spots comprising 2 to 4 tickets. Here, holders are encouraged to bring a blanket or cushions to sit on - and can enjoy a smaller menu of pizza, salads, calamari, burgers & select drinks.

Please note:

  • Kids pay full ticket price
  • Arrive from 4:30pm, show starts 5:30pm
  • Like Kirstenbosch, we go ahead in light rain, so please dress accordingly!
  • No cooler boxes permitted
  • To be considerate to others, only very low beach chairs are permitted on the grass
  • Parking is very limited at The Farm Village over the high season, so please walk/Uber/travel together – or use side roads around the Village!

Released in 1996, Slap in the Face arrived at a pivotal moment in South African music. Featuring timeless favourites including Just, Hey Mister, Henry and Waves of Salt, the album struck a chord with listeners through its honesty and unpolished authenticity.

Looking back, the pair admit they had little idea of what lay ahead.

"We were so young and completely unprepared for the music industry," laughs Karma Swanepoel. "We never really set out thinking this was going to be a career. We were just writing songs we loved and playing them wherever we could."

ARRIVE FROM 4:30PM, SHOW STARTS AT 5:30PM
