ABOUT

Water Polo Strength @ SSISA is an 8-week in-season training programme, offered through the High Performance Centre (HPC) at the Sports Science Institute of South Africa (SSISA). The programme consists of the following:


  • 2 x group-based sport-specific strength training sessions per week
  • Periodised programming
  • Initial and post-programme assessments
  • Load monitoring and evaluation by the HPC sports scientist
  • Ensure that you are optimally prepared for upcoming tournaments


Choose between two timeslots (20 July - 10 September):

  • Mondays and Wednesdays at 4-5pm
  • OR Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4-5pm


An optional 2-week top-up will run from Friday, 11 September to Wednesday, 23 September, extending the programme to a maximum of 10 weeks for participants who wish to continue or who are not affected by tournament schedules.


For participants that may miss sessions due to school holidays, home training programmes can be provided to ensure that progress is not lost.
