Recitals at Glenshiel is delighted to announce Christiaan Snyman - bass-baritone:
Love, Longing and Broadway!
This is the first time that Christiaan will perform at Glenshiel, and he will be accompanied by pianist Ilse Myburgh.
Christiaan's programme includes much loved favourites by Tchaikovsky, Strauss and Schumann, and songs from musicals including My Fair Lady, Les Miserables and South Pacific.
Christiaan Snyman studied opera at the TUT- Vocal Department in Pretoria and the College of Music at the University of Cape Town, He started singing professionally in 2001, in concerts, Opera- productions and
Oratorio all over South Africa and Namibia. In 2009 he moved to Germany where he sang at
the Stadt-theater Koblenz, KammerOper Frankfurt, and Opera Classica Europa. He has
sung many roles from Mozart, Donizetti, Bizet, to Puccini and Wagner.
In 2016 Christiaan returned to SA and sang the title role in Mozart's Don Giovanni, Scarpia in Tosca, and Ivan in the musical Calling Me Home in Johannesburg in 2017. In 2019 he sang the role of Wotan in Die Walküre with the Manhattan Opera Studio in New York.
Christiaan is accompanised by Ilse Myburgh, a distinguished collaborative pianist and educator with a career spanning over three decades. Mentored by Proff Joseph Stanford, Malcolm Nay and Pauline Nossel; she holds a Master’s degree in Chamber Music and is currently pursuing a PhD in Early Childhood Music Education.
We are also very proud to be continuing our student showcase - bringing in a promising young musician to perform as our opener! Watch this space.
