ABOUT
As part of the World Hydrography Day Celebration in eThekwini Municipality, one of South Africa’s most respected and internationally recognised musical ensembles, The SA Navy Band, will be performing at a Free Community Concert.
For more than 75 years, the SA Navy Band has served as a musical ambassador for South Africa, performing on prestigious stages across the globe. From Royal Navy Festivals in the UK and military tattoos in Germany, to national commemorations and community concerts at home, the Band is known for its precision, versatility, and unmistakable Navy spirit. Their repertoire spans stirring ceremonial marches, contemporary South African jazz, orchestral favourites, and music that speaks directly to our maritime heritage.
World Hydrography Day celebrates the science of mapping and safeguarding our oceans — work that sits at the heart of the South African Navy’s mission.
Through this performance, the SA Navy Band reflects that same dedication, discipline, and pride. Their music honours the men and women who keep our seas safe, while connecting audiences to the beauty and importance of the ocean.
