Velddraf met woorde

Trek jou tekkies aan en kies die hasepad in Afrikaans. By die Velddraf is jy meer as net ’n nommer: Deelnemers draf of stap met ’n unieke Afrikaanse woord uit die Woordeboek van die Afrikaanse Taal (WAT) as registrasienommer. Almal is welkom – van “doekvoet” tot “donderweer” en “blitsig” tot “baanbreker”! Jy kan stap, draf of strompel, en as jy nie juis pure perd voel nie, kan jy die 100 m eeuloop teen enige pas oorweeg om 100 jaar van die WAT te vier.

WAT - kies jou eie woord

Elke deelnemer aan Velddraf met Woorde ontvang tydens registrasie 'n lukrake woord in plaas van 'n resiesnommer.

Indien jy reeds in 2026 'n woord geborg het en met jou eie woord wil draf, of as jy hierdie geleentheid wil gebruik om 'n woord te borg, volg hierdie stappe:

Stap 1: Besoek die Woordeboek van die Afrikaanse Taal (WAT) se webtuiste om 'n woord te borg. https://www.wat.co.za/borg-n-woord/. Indien jy reeds 'n woord geborg het, beweeg direk na stap 2.

Stap 2: Stuur teen 28 September 'n e-pos saam met jou sertifikaat aan [email protected].

Stap 3: Maak tydens registrasie 'n draai by die WAT-stalletjie om jou woord en WAT-geskenkpakkie op te tel.

At the Velddraf you are more than just a number: participants jog or walk with a unique Afrikaans word from the Woordeboek van die Afrikaanse Taal (WAT) as their race number. Everyone is welcome – from “doekvoet” to “donderweer” and “blitsig” to “baanbreker”! You can walk, jog or stroll, and if you’re not feeling particularly fit, you can consider the 100m centenary run at any pace to celebrate 100 years of the WAT.

WAT – choose your own word

Every participant in Velddraf met Woorde (Trail Run with Words) receives a random word during registration instead of a race number.

If you have already sponsored a word in 2026 and would like to run with your own word, or if you want to use this opportunity to sponsor a word, follow these steps:

• Step 1: Visit the Woordeboek van die Afrikaanse Taal (WAT) website to sponsor a word: https://www.wat.co.za/borg-n-woord/. If you have already sponsored a word, proceed directly to step 2.
• Step 2: Send an email along with your certificate to [email protected] by 28 September.
• Step 3: Go to the WAT stand during registration to pick up your word and WAT gift bag.
