ABOUT
Zines are inexpensively produced, self-published, underground publications which usually deal with topics too controversial or niche for mainstream media. There’s no right or wrong way to make a zine. It’s not about obeying the rules or having the know-how - it’s about freedom and POWER!
Koeksisters’ ZINE PARTY is about getting a bunch of creative folks together for an afternoon of analogue creativity - think scissors, glue, collage, doodles etc. You can collaborate on a zine or work on your own. You can start something fresh or finish one you’ve already started!
Your zine can be about ANYTHING, but if you need something to jumpstart your imagination, this party’s THEME is: 6 WAYS TO X
You will be provided with:
• Desk space
• A zine-starter pack (with folding tips etc.)
• A4 and A3 paper
• Access to a photocopier
• A few supplies like glue, scissors, staplers etc.
• Groovy beats
PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN ART SUPPLIES: If you’re into ink, bring your favourite pens! If you’re a painter, bring your gouaches! If you’re all about that biro life, bring a six-pack of BIC pens! If you want to use old paper bags, newspaper, magazines, toilet paper, old photographs etc. bring a wad!
Please also bring extra glue and scissors so we don’t have a shortage.
Entrance is R30 (to help cover security and the price of materials).
Cut off is at 20 people so book ASAP!
