Aubrey Maseko, a young scientist, works obsessively in a makeshift lab to complete a cell-regeneration project under pressure from a pharmaceutical company — a breakthrough that could change lives and secure his future. As deadlines close in, he begins to experience auditory hallucinations: whispers that grow more aggressive and controlling. At home, his relationship with his fiancée Unathi fractures as he ignores her attempts to reconnect, convinced success will fix everything. Driven by the intensifying voices, he modifies his experiment with a chemical stimulant — and as it destabilises, the hallucinations manipulate his urgency toward a devastating point of no return.
