Youth Day Ride

Youth Day is a moment of remembrance, reflection, and gratitude.

While 16 June marks one of the most painful chapters in our history, it is also a day to honour the courage of the young people who stood up for change and shaped the future of our country. Their bravery continues to inspire generations long after them.

This Youth Day, we invite you to join us the Girlies and the Homies from Banditz Bicycle Club, as we cycle through the streets of Soweto. The very streets that hold so much history, resilience, and hope. Together, we will remember those lives and celebrate their legacy in the best way we know how: in community, in movement, and with purpose.

The ride will start and end at Thesis Lifestyle so no need to worry about the bikes, they will meet you at the venue. There is parking and after the ride lets enjoy some braai meat from Meet Meat just next door.

A few gentle tips to help you enjoy the ride:

• Come fuelled, cycling takes energy, so make sure you’ve had something to eat beforehand
• Bring along small snacks or electrolytes to keep your energy up along the way
• The weather can be unpredictable, so sunscreen and a hat are always a good idea or even a jacket for when its nippy
• Wear whatever feels comfortable, this isn’t a spandex-only kind of ride
• It’s beginner-friendly, but it does ask a little courage, come open to trying something new

A few things to note:

• No walk-ins, bikes and helmets are prepared based on bookings and if the event is marked as sold out then there are no more bikes left to hire out. Unless you have your own bike, which you can bring along

• Knowing your height helps us get the right fit for you (you can pop into Cycle Boutique at 44 Stanley if you’re unsure before the ride)

• Spots are limited and work on a first come, first served basis to keep things fair for everyone
