Tonderai, ’n jong Zimbabwiese seun wat in ’n Suid-Afrikaanse township woon, wag angstig teen sononder op sy ma se terugkeer van die werk. ’n Xenofobiese bende vat die strate oor en hy vrees die ergste. Hy waak oor sy ernstige siek en bedlêende jonger broer, wat desperaat raak vir drinkwater. Sonder lopende water in hulle plakkershuis moet Tonderai soos ’n knaagdier in die skaduwees rondbeweeg om veilige drinkwater vir sy broer by die gemeenskaplike kraan te gaan haal. Hy waag sy lewe, want sy bure val buitelanders aan.

Tonderai, a young Zimbabwean boy living in a South African township, anxiously awaits his mother's return from work at sunset. A xenophobic mob is rampaging through the streets, and he fears the worst. He watches over his seriously ill and bedridden younger brother, who is becoming desperate for drinking water. Without running water in their shack, Tonderai must move around in the shadows like a rodent to fetch safe drinking water for his brother from the communal tap. He risks his life because his neighbors are attacking foreigners.
