South Africa’s West Coast - raw, fragile, and rich in life - faces a quiet catastrophe. Far from the public eye, diamond and heavy mineral mining is tearing apart its beaches, dunes, and ocean floor.
Cannes Film Award nominee Out of Mined -- the feature documentary from Eyeforce and Protect the West Coast -- shines a light on this devastation, and the people who fight to protect what remains.
Through the voices of local communities, scientists, environmentalists, activists, and Indigenous leaders, the film reveals what has been lost -- and what can still be saved.
More than a story about destruction and despair, Out of Mined is about resilience and hope. It is a call for reflection, and a shift in how we value land, ocean, and the diamonds we wear as symbols of love.
