TIE TONEELFEES / PLAY FESTIVAL 2026

FOUR EVENINGS / THIRTEEN PRODUCTIONS / ONE STAGE.

For some, the TIE Toneelfees / Play Festival will be a brand-new experience. For others, it may bring back memories of sitting in an audience years ago, watching young performers bring stories to life. Now, a new generation takes the stage!

In 2026, this much-loved tradition continues as part of the 79-year legacy of the Tygerberg Internasionale / International Eisteddfod. From 3–6 August 2026, the stage at De Kuilen Primary School will come alive with young performers from Primary and High schools across the region, presenting a wonderful variety of productions in Afrikaans and English. Tickets are R65 per evening and gives you access to all performances taking place on that evening, as well as the live adjudicator feedback and Prize Giving ceremonies.

We are proud to welcome three experienced theatre professionals to adjudicate this year's productions: Albert Maritz, Karlé Briedenhann and Noel Oostendorp.

Whether you are coming to support a young performer, cheer on your school, enjoy an evening of live theatre or simply love a good story, the TIE Toneelfees / Play Festival invites you to take your seat and experience the magic of the stage!
