THIS WEEK'S "MASTER OF MAGIC" IS MAWONGA GAYIYA

Mawonga Gayiya is a natural born entertainer. He became a student at the College of Magic when he was just 10 years old, where he honed his natural flair for performance, his magical skill and his own uniquely approachable style of comedy magic.

Mawonga has accrued an impressive list of accolades and awards. In 2008 he was selected to represent South Africa at the World Magic Seminar in Las Vegas and then went on to win the Western Cape Junior Magician Championships. In 2010 he starred in the acclaimed production, “Imagine” at the Artscape Theatre, receiving a Silver Medallion for his performance. In 2012, he was a finalist in the FISM Africa championships and was then again honoured to represent African magic, this time in China, at the 2013 International Magic Championships. In 2014 Mawonga produced his first one-man show, Astonish, which was a great success at the 2015 Cape Town Fringe Festival, where is was produced and directed by the award-wining Stuart Lightbody. Most recently, Mawonga won a bronze medal at the 2015 SA Magic Championships.

Born and raised in Khayelitsha, Mawonga is a 'local boy made good', and has been featured on the popular '100% Youth' show on SABC 1. He also a member of the College of Magic teaching staff, assisting with training programmes for disadvantaged youth in the Western and Northern Cape. Having been compared to a young Trevor Noah, by Cue Newspaper, we can only expect great thing from this talented young man.

WELCOME TO AFRICA'S PREMIER MAGIC THEATRE ... CAPE TOWN MAGIC CLUB.

While Monday Night Magic has firmly established itself over five seasons as being the show for grownups, popular demand has prompted Cape Town Magic Club to create a new family show for the young and the young at heart.

Masters Of Magic matinee shows begin on Sunday, 19 November in our intimate 60-seater theatre in the heart of one of Africa’s busiest tourist destinations, the V&A Waterfront. The first season will run until December 17, at 2pm every week. We encourage families to join us for a wonderful, hilarious and magical journey of visual sleight-of-hand, incredible illusions, mind-boggling mentalism and so much more.

Each fun and entertaining one-hour Masters Of Magic show will be suitable for almost all ages - we do suggest audience members be seven years old or above.
