Claddagh Chamber Choir - A Concert of Four Choirs

Join us for an evening of choral music featuring four choirs: Pretoria Male Chorale, conducted by Alastair Scobbie, Akademia-koor, conducted by Hano van der Walt, Pretoria Chamber Choir, conducted by Bronwen Anderson, and special guests, Claddagh Chamber Choir all the way from Galway, Ireland, conducted by Stephen Carroll.

The first half of the concert will feature short performances from each of the three Pretoria-based choirs. The second half will feature Claddagh Chamber Choir, with all four choirs coming together at the end for a grand finale.

Founded in Galway in 2016, Claddagh Chamber Choir has spent the best part of a decade building a reputation as one of Ireland's most dynamic choral ensembles, celebrated for the warmth, precision, and emotional depth of its performances. Under the direction of conductor, Stephen Carroll, the choir has been the subject of its own dedicated television programme and has made numerous appearances on Irish television, while its competitive success on the international stage has seen it recognised among the finest choirs of its kind. Its touring history has taken it across Europe and Asia, performing to audiences far beyond its native Galway. In more recent years, the choir has become closely associated with A Claddagh Christmas, Ireland's largest choral concert series, which has grown into a major annual fixture on the country's cultural calendar. Steeped in the rich choral tradition of Ireland while embracing a fresh, contemporary artistic vision, Claddagh Chamber Choir carries the sound and spirit of Galway with them wherever they perform — and it is with great pride that they bring that spirit to South Africa for the first time, marking the choir's tenth anniversary.
