Dweba Art & Cafe

ABOUT

Threads of Memory is a contemporary Quilt Art Workshop experience hosted at Dweba Art Gallery in collaboration with Swiss Quilt Artist Christina Lauchenauer, whose mixed-media textile works explore themes of memory, identity, motherhood and emotional landscapes.

Participants will explore fabric collage, layering and contemporary composition to create individual A4 textile panels using curated fabrics, textures, colours and Quilt Art-inspired techniques.

Each participant’s work may later become part of a larger collective artwork through Dweba Art Gallery.

PURPOSE & ALIGNMENT

This event forms part of Dweba’s Mother’s Day month programme celebrating women, creativity and shared artistic expression. This event aligns with Dweba Art Gallery’s mission to celebrate diverse artistic practices and reimagine traditional art forms within contemporary creative spaces.

COLLABORATION & HOSTING

The experience features a live virtual engagement from Switzerland with Swiss Quilt Artist Christina Lauchenauer and Thobile Ndarana, Founder & Director of Dweba Art Gallery. The event will be hosted onsite at Dweba Art Gallery by Zaida Dollie, facilitating the experience, guiding the creative flow and ensuring a seamless environment for all participants.
