Ashtray

'Byster' won the award for Best Production at the Stellenbosch Woordfees Fringe in 2023.

Since then Lara performed the show more than 50 times all over the country and translated her work to English as 'Ashtray'.

'Ashtray' is the story of a young woman and her incapability to navigate life.

With a collection of seemingly random, unfiltered stories, she says it how she sees it, wonders what it means to be a woman and if she can actually call herself a South African. She doesn't know it, but she's busy running. Wether it is to, or from something is unclear.

She's uninformed, naive and probably a bit of a narcissist, but fuck, she's funny.
