ABOUT
Dearly Beloved,
Presented by Prism, a queer nightlife collective dedicated to creating spaces that uplift, inspire and remain accessible to our community. We invite you into a different kind of gathering…
“Dearly Beloved: A Kiki Function” is brought to life by the House of Indecency as an exploration of one of our most universal yet unspoken experiences: death, mourning and remembrance.
Within queer history, loss has never been distant. Yet within ballroom, we have always found ways to transform pain into presence; to walk, to express, to be witnessed. This function reimagines the funeral as a space not of silence, but of expression. A ceremony where grief, beauty, fashion and performance meet. Where we honour those we’ve lost, while celebrating the lives we continue to live.
Expect a night shaped by intention; intimate, dramatic and deeply felt. Categories will reflect themes of mourning, memory, and transcendence, interpreted through the lens of the blossoming Cape Town Kiki scene.
This is not a religious gathering, but an open space that welcomes all beliefs, backgrounds and understandings of loss. Here, we come together to share, to witness and to remember in our own unique ways. Whether you walk, watch or simply hold space, your presence is part of the ritual.
Come dressed in reverence.
Come ready to feel.
Come to celebrate life, through the language of ballroom.
