Sat Jun 20, 16:30 - Sat Jun 20, 21:30
Kalk Bay Community Centre
ABOUT
The Time Capsule is a nostalgia experience in the heart of Kalk Bay — and on Saturday 20 June we're opening our doors for the very first time. We're kicking things off with the greatest fairy tale ever committed to film - "The Princess Bride". But this isn't just a typical cinema screening. We will also have a board game café, a curated "old school video shop" (DVD's) to bring back some more memories from films gone by. All you need to bring is yourself and a hunger for adventure! Whether you have seen the movie before or if you are new to it, we are sure you will fall in love with this classic movie!
What the evening looks like
Doors open for general tickets at 17h00. Head straight to the board game café and settle in for a few rounds, or take your time browsing our "old-school" Time Capsule video store packed with classic DVD's - a handpicked collection of classic films.
At 18h45 the board games must pause and we all gather for a special 80's-inspired quiz, as well as a special "Time Capsule Walk Down Memory Lane". Then it will be the main event - we'll be screening The Princess Bride in all its glory — as you wish!
The Board Game Café
Open from 17h00 until 18h45 (so arrive on time to ensure you have time to get some games in). No experience necessary — our game host will get you up and running across a selection of classics and brand new games. Whether you're a seasoned player or haven't touched a board game since childhood, there is something on the table for you.
The "Old School" Video Shop (DVD's)
The Time Capsule DVD shop is open from the moment you walk in and again after the film. Browse a curated collection of classic films that will be on sale.
Food you Say??
Every guest will receive a complimentary popcorn and selected drink just before the movie begins. For dinner you can visit the Chardonnay Deli Dalebrook Cafe which is right next door or any of the other incredible restaurants in Kalk Bay. Just make sure you are back in time for the film!

About the Princess Bride:
A farm boy, a princess, a six-fingered villain, a loveable giant and the greatest swordsman who ever lived — The Princess Bride is a fairy tale, an adventure and a comedy all rolled into one gloriously quotable masterpiece. Directed by Rob Reiner and starring Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, Mandy Patinkin, Billy Crystal and André the Giant, this 1987 classic has never aged a single day. Inconceivable? Perhaps — but then again, you keep using that word.
