Ballads of the British Isles

Sat Oct 10, 19:00 - Sat Oct 10, 21:00

The Cathedral of St Andrew and St Michael

ABOUT

This concert presents beloved Scottish, Irish, Welsh and English ballads, such as Caledonia, Danny Boy and Suo Gân, alongside stirring folk melodies and well-known themes from films like Braveheart and The Lord of the Rings.

The music is brought to life by organ, strings, voices and pipes - of both the bag and woodwind sort!

The Cathedral’s newly installed organ is a central feature of the concert, appearing prominently in many of the arrangements, accompanying vocal soloists and combining with strings, pipes and the full ensemble to create the grandest of musical moments. All proceeds will go to the Cathedral’s Organ Fund.

Exceptional, versatile and irreplaceable local musicians performing include:

* Maretha Krige – Organ, percussion, guitar and voice
