LEGACY The Dandyism Ball x SSS All Black edition
Cape Town’s iconic ballroom celebration returns on 27 June for a special collaboration rooted in love, pride, music, and chosen family. LEGACY joins forces with Johannesburg-based collective SSS for a powerful cultural exchange between two cities, two communities, and one shared intention: creating spaces where self-expression, identity, and sound collide unapologetically. Known for their iconic All Black editions and fearless curation, SSS brings their underground energy and distinctive music culture into the LEGACY universe for one unforgettable night. Together, we’re building more than just a function, this is a meeting point between ballroom, nightlife, fashion and Queer expression.
And what better moment to introduce the theme of Dandyism? Dandyism has always been more than fashion; it is resistance through elegance, power through presentation, and the art of reclaiming visibility. Historically, Black dandyism challenged society by turning style into identity, confidence, and protest. In ballroom culture, presentation has always been political: the suit, the tailoring, the silhouette, the attitude, all become statements of survival, aspiration, and excellence.
Expect sharp tailoring, dramatic textures, monochrome glamour, soft masculinity, exaggerated femininity, and radical self-styling.
A celebration where fashion becomes language, and the ballroom becomes the stage for reinvention.
With a carefully curated music lineup bridging Cape Town and Johannesburg sounds, LEGACY x SSS invites you into a night where community, culture, and style take centre stage. Dress immaculately. Walk intentionally. Arrive legendary. Dance all night long.

WHAT IS BALLROOM?
Ballroom culture, also known as Ball Culture, was born in the 1980s within New York’s Black and Latinx LGBTQ+ communities. It emerged as a powerful response to exclusion, creating a space where people could be seen, celebrated, and free to express themselves. Today, ballroom is a global movement celebrating identity, resilience, fashion, performance, and community. Participants “walk” in categories ranging from high fashion to dance performance, competing for trophies, prizes, and cultural recognition.

ABOUT LEGACY
LEGACY is a love letter to the late Kirvan Fortuin, also known as Kirvan Le Cap, founding mother of the House of Le Cap and a pioneer of African ballroom culture.
Co-created in 2022 by Rori Bingham and produced by Edition Events, LEGACY was designed as a safe, joyful, and affirming space for Cape Town’s trans-feminine and gender non-conforming communities.
ABOUT SSS
Same Sex Saturday (SSS), created by Johannesburg-based collective Other Village People, is a queer-led cultural platform established in 2015. It was built to create intentional, inclusive spaces for the LGBTQI+ community and allies, blending music, fashion, and nightlife with strong community connection. Known for its signature “All Black” editions and immersive curation, SSS has become a key part of Johannesburg’s queer nightlife scene, celebrated for its focus on expression, safety, and cultural celebration.

Founded in 2020, Edition Events is a creative production company dedicated to building safe, inclusive, and culturally impactful experiences across Cape Town. From underground ballroom functions to large-scale brand activations, Edition is rooted in community, creativity and care.
