Trapped | The walls remember. Music, movement and memory from Gqeberha
Sat Aug 22, 15:00 - Sat Aug 22, 16:00
NG Church Hall
ABOUT
Trapped is a haunting, multidisciplinary performance that weaves together image, sound, movement, and text into a single, unflinching narrative. At its core are twelve stark photographs taken during moments of struggle in Gqeberha by Karl Schoenmaker, each serving as a visual anchor for twelve solo viola works by Patrick Case.
These are interlaced with twelve original poems by LyricL Nkechi and embodied through movement by Prince Albert–based dancer Jivaan Luttig.
Lasting approximately 40 minutes, Trapped unfolds as a sequence of intimate reflections on confinement, resilience, and the human condition. The interplay between disciplines creates a powerful emotional arc, drawing the audience into a visceral and contemplative space.
Presented as part of the Kaleidoscope Music and Arts Festival (21–23 August 2026), this work offers a profound and immersive artistic experience that lingers long after the final note.
