Why Are You Like This? is Phil de Lange’s brand new offering to comedy lovers.

Blending observational stand-up with musical comedy, the show dives into the strange, frustrating ways people behave — before turning the focus inward.

With sharp writing, silliness, and spontaneous audience interaction, de Lange explores everyday quirks, social awkwardness, and the suspicion that he might have the emotional stability of a 70-year-old man.

Phil is one of the country’s most unique comedic acts with his clever blend of ukulele music, one liners, and stories.

Known for his unpredictable, crowd-connected style, no two performances are the same — with heckles, banter, and off-the-cuff moments all part of the experience.

A South African Comics Choice Awards nominee and winner, de Lange performed a full run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2025 earning an “Excellent Show” rating from Fringe Review, which praised his “spirited, joyful and uplifting” performance.

"Why Are You Like This?” is Phil’s third solo hour, following “The Phil Spectrum” and “The Phil Monty”, and invites audiences into the development of a brand-new show — raw, playful, and evolving.
