Building Organizational Shock Absorbers Part I: Relational Skills for Better Outcomes
Tue May 19, 17:00 - Tue May 19, 19:00
Event is online
ABOUT
This workshop offers participants an introduction to foundational skills that will enable them to build and deepen relationships across hierarchy and difference, navigate tough conversations, and show up for repairing harm. Safer, authentic spaces in which people can show up as themselves and contribute meaningfully to the group’s work or purpose are the building blocks of the internal "shock absorbers" that enable organizations to withstand internal and external stressors without breaking — and emerge stronger on the other side.
You'll leave with working knowledge of eight key skills, including:
- Tools for mental flexibility and self-management when conversations become difficult
- Strategies to ensure that respectful disagreement is possible, productive, and leads to better outcomes
- Understanding why good intentions aren't enough, and how to navigate the gap between what you meant and how it landed
- Skills to shift a group's culture through how you show up — regardless of your role
This workshop is for you if:
- You're part of a group navigating organisational transition, restructuring, or periods of high stress
- You lead or work on teams, organisations, or communities across cultural or hierarchical difference
- You're in the NGO or nonprofit sector and want stronger internal and external relationships to support mission-aligned work
- You're a professional who knows that communication breakdowns are costing you — and want practical skills to address them
This workshop will take place virtually over Zoom, with the link being sent 3 days before as well as the morning of the event.
