ABOUT
Celebrating International Jazz Day - The Nerve and Barumi .
A South African spiritual jazz collective that lives at the crossroads of music, ritual, and ancestral memory. They see sound as a sacred language, using improvisation, rhythm, and spoken word to craft performances that feel more like ceremonies than typical concerts.
Rooted deeply in African spiritual traditions, Barumi also embraces a global perspective, blending
experimental jazz, free improvisation, and contemporary sonic art. Their purpose is clear and powerful: to share messages of peace, love, protection, and freedom through their music.
Listening to Barumi isn’t a passive experience. Their music calls for presence, reflection, and participation, inviting audiences to feel sound as vibration, prayer, and a shared moment of connection.
