Khataza Disc Jockey Takeover

Operation Khataza is a dynamic eight-piece Afro-futurist band from Observatory, Cape Town, led by the enigmatic Farrah Khataza — a mystical character brought to life by singer/songwriter, guitarist, and selector Sanele Blaai. Operating under the slogan "Sonic Liberation Across Alkebulan," the band weaves together Zamrock, South African jazz, kwaito, soukous, highlife, R&B, blues, and rock & roll into a sound that is as political as it is celebratory.

Following a landmark 2025, which saw the band complete a ConcertsSA-funded national tour across Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town, share stages with The Brother Moves On, and record their debut album Vuka, Operation Khataza returns to the stage in a new form.

The Khataza Disc Jockey Takeover is a deep dive into the source of the Operation's sound. All eight band members step behind the decks for curated 45-minute sets, taking audiences on a sonic journey spanning Chimurenga, Maskandi, Gqom, and Amapiano. This is not a concert; it's a community gathering and a celebration of the roots that feed the Operation's fire.
