On Monday, April 20th, the eve of Yom HaZikaron In Israel, when the country mourns those Israelis who have died in conflicts, the Combatants for Peace hold an annual memorial for those who have died on both sides of the conflict, and for the mothers who mourn their children.

The 21st Israeli–Palestinian Joint Memorial Ceremony is a shared act of remembrance that defies the belief that war, bloodshed, dehumanization and conflict must define Israel’s future. Together, the Combatants for Peace and the Parents Circle Families Forum show that there is another way.

For more than two decades, this ceremony has brought together bereaved Israeli and Palestinian families who have lost loved ones in the conflict. Their testimonies remind us that grief is not confined to one side but is lived across deeply different realities - and that acknowledging one another’s pain and humanity is a necessary step toward a different future.

The ceremony takes place simultaneously in Israel and Palestine, and is broadcast live to a global community at satellite events around the world, from London to Berlin, New York to Stockholm, Cape Town and Johannesburg, where communities gather locally to mark the day together. The event is both moving and visually powerful, and includes keynote speakers, testimonies, poetry, music and dance.
