From SPY v SPY to Essential Mix, JODY K helped define Cape Town’s house sound.

Jody K aka Jody Kramer has been part of Cape Town’s heartbeat since the mid 90s. From More and Opium to The Fuse, Beat Boutique and The Essential Mix, he’s always played for the dancefloor, not the spotlight. His SPY v SPY Productions nights drew queues around the block and proved he was more than a match for some of the legends he shared the booth with — Deep Dish, Tiësto, Jeff K and Charles Webster among them.
His underground record shop on Loop Street became a Mecca for DJs and aficionados searching for local and international gems that helped shape the sound of the city and the nation as a whole.
These days, Jody channels that same creative energy into Afrikaburn with Space Cowboys, delivering from the most outstanding and unusual DJ box at the Burn — the UFO — and curating an equally out-of-this-world, surreal lineup.
Back to the Old House is a return to the street that shaped him, and he’s bringing something special for this one. For Jody K, it’s time to come home.
