NB: Notice on the Unauthorized Resale of Event Tickets

The North-West University has noted with concern reports of tickets for Varsity Cup matches being resold at inflated prices.

It has come to our attention that certain individuals may be purchasing tickets with the intention of reselling them for profit. NWU regards this practice as unacceptable and is treating these matters with the necessary seriousness.

In accordance with Section 5(2) of the Safety at Sports and Recreational Events Act (SASREA), the resale of event tickets without prior written approval from the event organiser or venue owner is prohibited. Tickets may not be obtained for commercial or resale purposes, and any tickets acquired in contravention of this legislation may be deemed invalid.

NWU strongly discourages any form of ticket reselling that restricts fair access to events. Such actions negatively impact the broader student and supporter community and undermine the spirit and integrity of the Varsity Cup experience.

Students, staff, and members of the public are encouraged to report any suspicious ticket-related activity or suspected fraud to: [email protected]

NWU will continue to work closely with relevant stakeholders to address these concerns and implement measures to protect the fairness, safety, and accessibility of all Varsity Cup fixtures.

1. Each Ticket you purchase intended to give you a revocable license (or right) to entry and attendance of the particular Event only to which the Ticket pertains.

2. A Ticket does not afford the Ticket holder the right to transport to the Venue, or parking, or merchandise, or any food or beverages at the Venue, unless otherwise stated.

3. You must produce a valid Ticket to gain entry to the Venue and you must produce that Ticket for inspection upon request from an Event official at any time. Failure to produce such Ticket when requested may result in you being denied access to the Venue or in you being removed from the Venue.
