Saturday Sewing Club with Cape Town Craft Club

Whether you’re an absolute beginner or an experienced sewist, come to our Saturday Sewing Club!

Join us for a relaxed day of sewing at The Assembly, a beautiful, light-filled co-working space in Cape Town with plenty of big desks and plug points.

There are two ways to join this event:

1. Get to know your machine: An introduction to sewing (R450)

If you have a sewing machine but aren’t quite sure how to use it yet, this guided session is for you. Together, we’ll get to know your machine, go over the basics of sewing, and start a simple beginner pattern. You’ll leave with the knowledge needed to continue your sewing journey at home! All materials provided. B.Y.O.Sewing machine and a pair of scissors.

2. Open sewing session (R150)

Bring a project you’re already working on, or something you’ve been meaning to start. This is a chance to carve out intentional crafting time, meet other makers, share tips, and feel inspired!

We’ll all share the same space, creating a chance to connect with others over a mutual love and admiration for the art of sewing. This session is led by Andie Reeves, founder of Cape Town Craft Club with over 16 years of experience in sewing and teaching.

Time: 10 am - 3 pm

Venue: The Assembly, Woodstock, Cape Town

Important: Attendees need to bring their own sewing machine, and it must be in working order. If you’re not sure if your machine works well, take it to Ross Sewing Machines in Tokai, who can carry out a simple service for you.

• Anyone with a sewing machine they’re not totally sure how to use
• Anyone who wants to spend the day sewing away from the distractions of home
• People who want to meet other like-minded makers
• Beginners who want a gentle, fun introduction to sewing

During the day you can:

• Learn the ins and outs of your sewing machine
• Pick up the basics of sewing
• Work through a simple beginner pattern
• Get help and guidance if you need it
• Spend a calm, creative day sewing with others
