A Legacy of Song: 90 Years of the SU Choir | 90 jaar van die US Koor

For 90 years, the Stellenbosch University Choir has formed part of the rich cultural and student life of the University. Across generations, students have shared in a tradition of music, friendship, excellence, and belonging within the broader Maties community.

During the 2026 Homecoming Celebrations, Choir Alumni are warmly invited back to Stellenbosch to reconnect, reminisce, and celebrate the remarkable history and continued legacy of the SU Choir.

REUNION PROGRAMME:

FRIDAY 11 SEPTEMBER

Welcome Back Reception

All SU Choir alumni and current members are invited.

Venue: Alumni Clubhouse at Die Stal, Coetzenburg

Time: 18:00 until late

Cost: R300 per person (includes spit braai and wine)

SATURDAY 12 SEPTEMBER

Mass Choir practice and singing together

09:00: Meet and greet with coffee at Die Khaya

10:00: Rehearsal starts – Kruiskerk

13:00: Lunch at Die Khaya

14:00: Additional rehearsals as directed

Special invite to attend the Matieland Concert featuring the 2026 SU Choir.

Venue: Endler Hall

Time: 20:00

Cost: R150 per person (Special rate for choir alumni and their partners). All proceeds from ticket sales support the long-term sustainability of the SU Choir.

Please note: Two Matieland Concerts will be held on Saturday 12 September. The special R150 ticket price is valid only for the 20:00 performance.

Vir 90 jaar vorm die Universiteit Stellenbosch se Koor deel van die ryke kultuur- en studentelewe van die Universiteit. Oor geslagte heen het studente gedeel in 'n tradisie van musiek, vriendskap, uitnemendheid en tuiswees binne die breër Maties-gemeenskap.

Tydens die 2026 Tuiskoms-vieringe word Koor-alumni hartlik teruggenooi na Stellenbosch om weer kontak te maak, herinneringe op te haal en die merkwaardige geskiedenis en voortgesette nalatenskap van die US-koor te vier.

Massakooroefening en saamsing

09:00: Ontmoet en groet met koffie by Die Khaya

10:00: Repetisie begin in die Kruiskerk

13:00: Middagete by Die Khaya

14:00: Verdere repetisies soos aangedui

Spesiale uitnodiging na die Matieland Konsert met die 2026 Universiteitskoor

Plek: Endlersaal

Tyd: 20:00

Koste: R150 per persoon (Spesiale tarief vir voormalige koorlede en hul metgeselle). Alle opbrengste uit die kaartjieverkope ondersteun die US Koor se langtermyn volhoubaarheid.

Neem asseblief kennis: Twee Matieland Konserte word op Saterdag 12 September aangebied. Die kaartjieprys van R150 is slegs geldig vir die 20:00-vertoning.
