Write Jozi 10-Week Writing Workshop

Do you live in Johannesburg? Do you have a story to tell? Let us guide and inspire you!

At weekly in-person sessions, we focus on developing your unique writing style and narrative voice, as well as workshopping your current project. You'll get support for your personal creative goals, whether you're writing for the first time, finishing a novel, or experimenting with a new mode of expression. We provide gentle accountability as you discover your story and establish a writing routine. What do you enjoy? Poetry, non-fiction, memoir, travelogue, essays, romance, thriller, literary fiction - whatever you love to read is probably what you love to write. Give it a try! Anyone who yearns to explore their writing potential is welcome!

What's included?

10 two-hour sessions, book coaching for the duration of the workshop, as well as detailed feedback on weekly submissions. Receive in-depth tuition from expert writing teachers, gain readers for your work, and flourish within a motivated, structured course. All materials and refreshments are provided.

How much does it cost?

The ticket price of R490 secures your place in the first session, to see if Write Jozi is for you. If you don't enjoy it, you have no obligation to complete the whole course. If you do enjoy your experience, the cost of the 10-week workshop after session one is: R4460, payable via EFT.

Payment plans are available if you prefer instalments.

Over 65s and students get a discount.

The Write Jozi Alumni fee after session one is R3860.

(WJ Alumni are writers who have done a Write Jozi workshop before and are returning to complete their projects or dabble in new ideas).

Where are workshops held?

Write Jozi takes place in Parkview, in Tyrone Avenue or Lurgan Road. The exact location will be updated closer to the time.
