A Theatrical Love Triangle Dances Through The Ages at The Kalk Bay Theatre with 'PUTTING ON THE RITZ'

Inspired by the classic hit song, 'Puttin' on the Ritz' this new musical revue, with show-stopping numbers, from three distinct musical eras, is devised, & choreographed for South African audiences.

It has a thrilling narrative twist, featuring a love triangle, that trips through time – from The Golden Age of Hollywood to The 80s Synth Pop Era, and right up to the present.

The principal cast, nightclub crooner, Darryl Darling, always chasing the next big thing — showgirl, Sarie Marais, caught between her big dreams and the mess of right now, and ace dancer, Frikkie Dell, who's stuck in the glory days. The lovelorn trio are hurled through time by a mysterious time machine, trying to resolve their love issues, while singing & dancing to the all-time favourite songs of these different eras.

Devised and produced by Chris Bingham, in collaboration with The Outlore, the production showcases the magical music of these three periods in time. 'Putting on The Ritz' is brought to life by fresh new South African talents, many of whom have appeared in hit musicals at the Artscape & Theatre on The Bay, like Chicago, Mamma Mia, We Will Rock You, and My Fair Lady.

'Putting on The Ritz' is a love letter to theatrical entertainment and the hearts it reaches. Audiences can expect the suave showmanship of old Hollywood, the electric excitement of the MTV generation, and the thrill of a love triangle spread across time itself.
