ABOUT

The award-winning My Fellow South Africans (Best Solo Performance X2, Best Script) performed by the talented Kim Blanche Adonis, written by Mike van Graan, will have a one-off performance at Cedar House in Kenilworth at 19:30 on Friday 13 March. Having been performed to acclaim around the country more than 160 times, My Fellow South Africans continues to be in demand and will be performed at the Knysna Fringe Festival on 20 March. These performances are among the last as the creative team is currently working on a new script, Family Meeting, in a similar multi-sketch, satirical vein. This is probably the last time to see it in Cape Town.

My Fellow South Africans does exactly what it promises to do: it gives audiences an entertaining satirical take on contemporary South Africa and does so by merging wit and commentary in a provokingly entertaining manner. – Barbara Loots, Theatre Scene Cape Town

Van Graan carries the moniker cultural activist because that is exactly what he does with all the skill of both his perceptive and piercing gaze and his writing wizardry….The text is dense, the demands on the actor intense, but she (Kim Blanche Adonis) has taken this on with a will and willingness to make it her own….Van Graan has found a warrior for his sharpest words.

My Fellow South Africans by Mike van Graan was everything it promised to be. The compilation of sketches, a creative balance between the uproariously funny and the ‘uncomfortable’, gave the full house audience…a highly satisfying evening of political satire.
